Church Ministries
MOD SQUAD
The MOD Squad is an all men subgroup of the church whose mission is to create a strong bond of brotherhood through fellowship and encouragement of the men, in a Christian manner; to take back their God-given responsibilities to their families, to God, and to the community. All men of the church and community are encouraged to actively participate.
DEACON BOARD
The Deacon’s Board is the subset of Spirit-filled men of the church, picked by the pastor, to oversee the business and personnel needs of the church. It was in the book of Acts that this position was created. You will find the Deacons activities and responsibilities are also mentioned in Phil. 1:1, 1 Timothy 3:8, 10, 12 and Acts 6:1-6.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
The Vacation Bible School is a special week set aside annually by the Sunday School Department to gather people from the church and the community in sharing and learning more about the Lord and His works in a corporate atmosphere.
PRAYER & BIBLE BAND
Prayer & Bible Band is an auxiliary of the Women’s Department that is shared by all members of the church in a weekly teaching of church functions, prayer and Bible truths.
YPWW (Young People Willing Workers)
The YPWW is an outreach to the young people of the church in teaching church doctrine, history, Bible truths, and other works of God through and by Spirit-filled men and women of God.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
The Sunday School is the most vital arm of classroom Bible teaching for the church and aims to instruct all personnel in the truths of the Word of God.
MISSIONS DEPARTMENT
The Missions Department of the church is responsible for the ministry of sharing with those in need on local and foreign mission fields.
NEW MEMBERS CLASS
The New Members Class is set aside to acquaint the new member to the history, doctrine, structure and culture of the Church of God in Christ and Williams Temple COGIC. This is a different ministry from that conducted by the pastor for new members.
PURITY CLASS
The Purity Class is a group of young people, ages 12-19, which is advanced from the Sunshine Band; whose objectives are to lift and protect moral standards, beautify home and church life, to emphasize cleanliness, and to train potential youth leaders of the church and community. The Purity Class is a function of the Women’s Department.
SUNSHINE BAND
The Sunshine Band is the group of youths of the church, in the formative years, through the age of 12 years, which has the mission to build, teach, promote, and to direct the youths of this age group. The age breakdown is as follows: 2 and under are called ‘Future Sunbeams,’ 2 thru 6 are called ‘Sunbeams,’ 7 thru 9 are called ‘Sunrays,’ and 10 thru 12 are called ‘Illuminators.’ The Sunshine Band is a function of the Women’s Department.
USHERS BOARD
The basic function of the Ushers Board is to make contact with individuals entering the sanctuary and to assist in locating a suitable and comfortable seat. The usher also ensures each visitor is welcomed and given a visitor’s card to complete.
HOSPITALITY CLUB
The Hospitality Club works in conjunction with the usher’s board in the greeting of entrants to the sanctuary, with special emphasis placed on all visitors. In addition, the Hospitality Club may be required to serve refreshments at special occasions of the church.
PRAISE AND WORSHIP TEAM
The Praise and Worship Team is a group of Spirit filled, energetic members of the church who provides leadership of the praise service at the beginning of service.
EVANGELISM OUTREACH
The Evangelism Outreach is an extension of, and is a vital part of, the church whose mission it is to reach out into the community to reach lost souls for the Lord; to visit the prisoners, convalescent homes, hospitals, sick and shut-in, and go on door-to-door missions.
CHURCH TUTORING PROGRAM
The Church Tutoring Program is an after-school session, held on Tuesday evenings, during the school year period; which is operated by educational professionals who are members of Williams Temple. This program, which is open to Williams Temple members, as well as the community at large, aids the students in their effort to receive educational excellence.
SINGLES MINISTRY
The Singles Ministry is a group of members whose marital status is single who band together to provide open and honest expressions for the concerns of the marriage age, single members of Williams Temple COGIC.
TAPE MINISTRY
The Tape Ministry (audio and visual) ensures the recording of all vital sections of the church service during Sunday and Special occasions.
NEW MEMBERS ASSIST TEAM
The New Members Assist Team is one set aside who makes first contact with the new members of Williams Temple COGIC. The aim is to provide smooth transition into the family life of the church, for the new member.
GREETERS
The Greeters are those hospitable, smiling faced members of the church who meet and welcome all visitors as they enter the sanctuary.
YWCC (Young Women's Christian Council)
The YWCC is a group of Christian women, ages 19 through 35, whose purpose is to channel the minds of women into productive Christian endeavors.

CWC (Christian Women's Council)
The CWC is a group of Christian women, ages 35 and up, whose purpose is to channel the minds of women into productive Christian endeavors.
MISSIONARY BOARD
The Missionary Board (or Circle) is a group of mission minded women called of God and recognized as missionaries by the church who perform in the home, community and the church and other duties that aid in the edification of the body of Christ. They also may be called on to expound the word of God. The three (3) types of missionaries are Evangelist Missionaries and Deaconess Missionaries which are licensed, and Aspiring Missionaries, which are under the watchful eye of the pastor as he monitors their qualifications with respect to becoming a licensed missionary.
COLLEGE MINISTRY
The mission of the College Ministry is to focus on the college students who attend Williams Temple COGIC while pursuing their educational goals. The aim is to keep the student member focused on their commitment to God while at the same time achieving academic excellence. This ministry is chaired by a member who is employed in the educational field.
MUSIC DEPARTMENT
The Music Department is focused on the use of music to facilitate worship during service. The Minister of Music ensures the readiness of each choir to perform when they are called on to do so. In addition, the Minister of Music oversees the Praise and Worship Team, as well as all supporting musicians.
MOTHERS BOARD
The Mothers Board is that group of select, spiritually mature women chosen by the Pastor to serve in the special capacity of steering and assisting the growth of the women of the church in their spiritual development and church etiquettes. The Mothers Board also assists the pastor and the Communion team in the setting up and serving of communion.
SEWING CIRCLE
The Sewing Circle is a ministry that assists those interested members of the church in developing and sharing their skills in various crafts to include sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc. Sewing Circle members usually display the results of their labor during the year and at a given time in the District Convention. This ministry is open to both men and women.
PRISON MINISTRY
The Prison Ministry is a group of persons from the church who regularly visit the various places of incarceration to take the word of the saving grace of the Lord to all who are imprisoned.
